A family business in the most literal of senses, we exist for one reason: to make sure that other families are prepared
(at least legally and logistically) for when the worst happens.
Our story is simple: when owner Kevin Kiene’s father died, he not only left Kevin with the grief of his loss, but also
with a tangled legal mess. It cost several years of probate court, disagreements with surviving family members and a
lot of wasted money on legal fees and court fees, turning an already difficult time into a true nightmare.
Dying either intestate (without a will or living trust), or with your legal documents and wishes unknown leaves your
family to scramble trying to figure out where your documents are, if they exist at all. Then come attorneys, arguments,
an expensive (and often embattled) probate process in court. Not exactly the legacy most of us want to leave behind.
So while there are any number of companies eager to sell you a will or living trust on the web, none of them offer what
you need most: help keeping your executed legal documents in one secure place, and helping your loved ones access
them when your time comes. After all, what good is a will if no one knows where it is after you die? Or perhaps
even worse, what good is a living will (health directive) if you are incapacitated in a car accident, and no one
knows where your health wishes are written down?
It’s not enough to create and sign estate planning and health care documents. Your family needs to be able to access
them quickly and easily in the event of an emergency, so that they can comply with your wishes, and grieve without
having to unravel a tangle of legal questions.
