Washington Durable Power of Attorney (Financial)

Last Updated: 6/11/2015

Document Description

Remember when people would ask you, “What do you want to be when you get older?” Whether life went as planned, or it took a different turn, it is still crucial to have a plan. After spending your lifetime working to create a living for yourself and maybe even for a family, it is important to make sure you are able to choose how everything will be handled when you are no longer alive or are at the end of your life.

Although it’s important to plan for the future, it’s equally important to protect it. As Benjamin Franklin once said, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” With ezEstatePlanner’s Washington Financial Power of Attorney you can plan, protect and make your future financial arrangements.

You will first need to appoint an agent, who will have special powers and responsibilities. These responsibilities may include banking duties, like receiving and depositing funds. Banking duties could also include paying for any individual or business expenses for the principal's benefit. Other powers you may choose to give the agent are applying for government benefits, paying for medical support, holding personal property, handling insurance responsibilities, investing funds, completing and signing any taxes, dealing with retirement funds and more.

After choosing the agent’s powers you can include any special instructions you would like the agent to follow, as well as when you would like the power of attorney to become effective. You and your witnesses will then need to sign the document.

Once the document has been finalized and signed, you can upload it right back on to the ezEstatePlanner website. The document will go in the ezEstatePlanner Vault, which allows you to safely store your important estate documents as well as other meaningful files so that they are accessible when you need them.
