Document Description
What is your opinion about blood transfusions? Do you believe in organ donation? In a situation where there is no hope of recovery, do you want your life to be artificially prolonged with the use of medical treatments and machines? Do you want to be kept on life support if there is no hope of regaining normal brain function?
All of these difficult questions can be addressed in a living will. Also known as an advance health directive, a living will is a written summary of your health care wishes. Used when you are unable to communicate your own wishes, this document guides your medical care team through your treatments in serious health situations.
No one enjoys thinking about these issues, but knowing your medical decisions are taken care of provides peace of mind. A living will also removes the burden of making these difficult decisions from your loved ones.
A living will must conform to all of its governing state laws. Written specifically for residents of Oregon, our living will form is legal and binding throughout Oregon. It includes the necessary legal clauses and language to ensure it can be used in medical emergency situations.
