Document Description
We understand, your pets are your children. You want your pets well cared for when you can no longer care for them yourself, which means you need to make your wishes legally binding, as part of your estate planning.
Fortunately, providing for your furry friends has never been easier. Our Pet Care Trust and Instructions document is simple yet effective, allowing you to specify a caretaker (trustee), who will be responsible for looking after your pet(s). You can choose different caretakers/trustees for different pets, and you can set aside a certain amount of money to make sure that the trustees can properly care for your pet's nutrition and health care.
Whether this Pet Trust is part of your
last will or
living trust, or simply a standalone assertion of your wishes regarding your pets, it's important to state your wishes before you become ill or incapacitated. You know what's best for your pets, and while your executor would do their best to find good homes after you pass, you can ensure that your pets will end up with the right caretaker by making the arrangements yourself.
Record your wishes and instructions for your pets, store the Pet Care Trust & Instructions in your Estate Vault, and share it with the people who will need to access it if something happens to you. Your family, executor and trustee need to know your wishes, and need to be reminded to immediately enter your home to rescue your pets if you cannot do so.
